PURUSH PURUSHOTHAMAN

Board Chair

Mr. Purush is a Canadian legal academic and lawyer. He is a Visiting Scholar at the New School for Social Research, a graduate research institution in New York City, USA. His Ph.D. thesis examined the democratic legitimacy of the Basic Structure Doctrine from the perspective of the theory of constituent power. His current research focuses on democratic constitutionalism. He has vast teaching and research experience in various countries, including New Zealand, the US, Australia, and Canada. It was his idea to integrate the world into Canada and to adopt multiculturalism as a model of integration that acted as a launch pad for ImmiAid. Mr. Purush Purushothaman is also a public interest lawyer at the Supreme Court of India. He is the founding director of C-SAL - Social Action Litigation Council, a Non Profit based in New Delhi, active in pro-bono lawyering, public interest ligation, public legal education, and legal research. For him, public interest litigation represents collective action for transformative Justice.

DEEPAK DIVAKARAN

Coordinator

Deepak is a technocrat by profession and served British, Russian, and Canadian Public and Private enterprises in Technical and Management roles. He is an Engineering graduate from India and a Postgraduate in Global Business Management with Honors from Humber Business school Toronto.
On the volunteering front, he is a founding member of the Indo-Canadian Press club and was its liaison for the High Commission of India to Canada, National Alliance of Indo-Canadians chapters in Toronto, Kingston and the Ottawa Ethnic Media forum. He served as President of the Malayali Association of Ottawa and was the interim leader for the Canada 150 project of the Great India Festival in Ottawa.
He is passionate about mentoring and coaching international students, young engineers, IT, and management professionals among new immigrants to realize their Canadian dream and aspirations.

GOPINATH KUNDUKATTIL, LL.B. MSW, AFCC

Treasurer

A Social Worker currently working as a Financial Counselor with Community Financial Counseling Services in Winnipeg. Area of service includes assisting clients in identifying realistic solutions to financial problems and providing support in implementing plans that will stabilize clients’ financial situations and enable them to manage their financial affairs effectively. A specialized area of practice is with gambling-affected clients. Previously worked with Riverview Health Centre and St. Amant in the area of Geriatrics and Mental Health.
